MISSION

The purpose of the corporation is to serve the underrepresented youth of Kaua‘i by promoting opportunities for growth, achievement, and community engagement through sports and structured programs. We champion surfing in local public schools, as well as related water sports and team sports such as baseball, soccer, and football.

By providing funding for gear, equipment, certifications, programs, team travel, scholarships, and other unfunded needs, we create pathways for local youth to excel both on and off the ‘field’. Tamba Foundation will actively solicit fundraising and donations to support these initiatives, assist qualified teams and organizations with their fundraising efforts, and recognize outstanding achievements among our island’s youth.

Guided by strong values of community care, environmental stewardship, and a solid work ethic, we aim to expand support for youth programs across Kaua‘i, with a vision to grow this impact island-wide and eventually statewide.

VISIONS AND VALUES

Tamba Foundation, Inc. believes in positive community values. Through his local business Tamba Surf Company, Tamba Foundation Principal Director Saa Ginlack has promoted such values since 1997. Tamba Surf Company is well-known locally for its legacy of community donations, from small product donations for raffle and fund raisers, to team sponsorships, to its signature 'Kollab4AKoz' student design contests that raise money for classrooms, all the way up to raising thousands of dollars to help combat Rapid Ohia Death that kills native trees.

Tamba has 'walked the walk' since day one. Community thrives when it is well supported. There is still much work to be done to support our local community, much more than a single surf shop can support. These community needs will never diminish, and in fact will grow over time as costs increase and populations grow.

Creating a foundation that helps support the local community is a natural progression for Mr Ginlack and Tamba Surf Company. The Tamba Foundation intends to continue the work that Tamba Surf Company has always handled, with the added components of seeking out like-minded businesses, individuals, and organizations willing to help fund the community-driven efforts of Tamba Foundation, and to expand the level of support given to our community.

The Tamba Foundation will also fundraise via local events such as music concerts and community events, raising money from gate receipts or vendor sales. Tamba Surf Company, while always willing to donate to good local causes, has never been able to provide as much support as the community needs, especially for larger funding needs such as team travel. Creating a foundation that can solicit and raise funding, and then help funnel that funding to where it is needed, will allow for more robust community support for the people of Kaua'i, and with sustained success, eventual expansion throughout the Hawaiian island chain.
